Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health.
Also known as spinal or extremity manipulative therapy. It is a non-invasive, manual procedure that uses a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust applied to spinal or extremity joints with reduced movement. The primary goal is to restore function by improving range of motion and decreasing tightness or spasm.
Typical treatments include adjustments, mobilizations and muscle release therapy. Mobilizations are a gentler form of a chiropractic adjustment. Additional treatments such as electrotherapy, low-level laser therapy and acupuncture can also be used when indicated. Treatment plans are tailored to each and every individual.
